Load & Performance Testing

Load and Performance testing is becoming more and more wide spread as businesses and government provide more client facing services, and as more organisations look at integrating existing systems via Service Orientated Architecture.

Performance testing consists of much more than simply using a tool. Tools can easily be learnt, but the application of the theory and practice of performance testing requires a technical background, strong analytical skills, excellent communication ability and years of practical hands on experience.

So many times in load and performance testing engagements an analyst is able to tell at which point an application starts to fail under load, but no necessarily the reason why. Simply executing a test without analysis of the workload that the system is expected to deal with, and producing a graph of results which may even not be a true reflection of what is happening is simply not good enough.
